Heart Rose-Filled Basket Cake

A simple heart basket cake with half of the lid folded open, revealing deep red roses underneath! This cake is perfect for Valentine's day. I baked a heart-shaped chocolate cake and frosted the whole cake with Wilton Tip 47 in a basketweave technique. I also added a border using a star tip around the top edges of the cake to add more texture and give it a cleaner look.

This was my first time making buttercream roses! I used Wilton Tip 104 and layered petals around a buttercream cone base on a flower nail. After letting the frosting harden, I carefully placed the buttercream roses underneath the lid and on the flat side of the lid. To top it off, I added a few gold pearl sprinkles on the roses to the side and in the spaces between the roses.
