Blue and Gold Watercolor Cube Cake

This cake for my birthday was inspired by a mini wedding cake I saw on Pinterest -- I've never used buttercream stencils or gold flakes before so I was excited to try them.

The cake was vanilla with a raspberry filling, all covered in swiss meringue buttercream. I blended different shades of blue to cover the sides and top of the cake. I then patted the sides with a textured paper towel dipped in dark blue food coloring to add a dotted pattern around the cake. Next, I applied white buttercream through a stencil then painted it with edible gold paint. Lastly, I added some gold flakes around the edges!
