3D Teddy Bear Cake

This 3D teddy bear cake was for my friend's birthday -- it was my first time making a 3D cake in a unique shape. I started off by stacking 3 small round cakes and carving them for the bear's body. I then carved smaller rectangles for the limbs. Next, I carved a spherical structure for the head. I did a crumb coat on each piece separately, then assembled all the parts using lollipop sticks and buttercream frosting. The picture below shows the cake assembled with the crumb coat (I reinforced some areas with grey frosting) and purple fondant cut-outs on its feet.

I used half an oreo for each ear and inserted them into each side of the head. After letting the assembled cake cool, I used Wilton Tip 233 to cover the entire bear with grey frosting to look like fur. Lastly, I added colored fondant for the ears, eyes, and nose. As a finishing touch, I made a mini cake and attached it to the bear's arms with toothpicks so it looked like the bear was holding it. This cake took me close to 7 hours to complete -- it was definitely a fun challenge!
